Title
Economic and Social History of Quebec, 1760-1850
Abstract
Considered one of the most important and controversial historical interpretations of post-Conquest Quebec, the author challenges the then standard Quebec nationalist viewpoint that the Conquest alone brought about the economic decline of French Canada. The relationship between Francophone and Anglophone Lower Canadians from the capitulation to the beginning of the industrialization of the colony is highlighted.
