Abstract |
In 1972, two brothers who lived as hermits in the quiet village of Stoneham died within weeks of each other. They bequeathed their land to the United Townships of Stoneham and Tewkesbury on the condition that it be turned into a conservation park. The two brothers were Sidney and Percy Wright. In 1977, the provincial government created Mount Wright conservation area, an exceptional old-growth forest ecosystem of trees older than 300 years not found anywhere else in the region. The author traces the genealogy of Sidney and Percy Wright, grandsons of Thomas Wright and Elizabeth Campbell, Irish immigrants who married in Quebec City in 1822.
