Abstract
In the early twentieth century, J.J. Harpell, founder of the Garden City Press in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, began correspondence courses and study clubs for his workers. He encouraged small businesses to promote social and educational innovations, and was an advocate of life-long learning.
