Abstract
The author examines the influence of various personal and contextual variables on the social and academic adjustment of Nigerian students in post-secondary institutions in Montreal in the late 1970s. The author interviewed 88 Nigerian students, representing two-thirds of the Nigerian student population in the city in November 1977. Of the students interviewed, 20 were attending Loyola College and 38 were attending Sir George Williams University (both now part of Concordia University), 15 were attending McGill University, seven were attending LaSalle College, and the remainder other post-secondary institutions.
