Abstract
The American-born Philemon Wright (1760-1839) settled in 1800 in what became known as Wrightville, then Hull, and now Gatineau, Quebec. Originally intending to establish an agricultural community, Wright and his descendants became involved in the lucrative timber trade in this area.
