Abstract |
The author examines the war-time letters of brothers Harry Goldberg and Louis "Curly" Goldberg that they sent back to their family in Montreal during the Second World War. The author discusses how the letters demonstrate conditions for both soldiers abroad and families at home. Particular attention is given to how the Goldbergs' Jewish faith influenced their decision to enlist, and how Harry Goldberg was killed in action and Louis Goldberg died in an air-training accident.
