Abstract
The Lebanese-Syrian Orthodox community in Montreal is this ethno-religious group’s largest and founding community in Canada. The first Orthodox Christian Lebanese-Syrians arrived in Montreal in the early 1880s. The author draws a composite of this Montreal community between 1905 and 1950 based primarily on information provided from the marriage registers of two Lebanese-Syrian Orthodox churches in the city, St. George Church and St. Nicholas Church.
