Abstract |
A history of the "Seigneurie de Madawaska," located in Bas-Saint-Laurent. In 1763, following the Conquest, the seigneury was purchased by James Murray, who had just been appointed Governor General of Quebec. Murray held the seigneury for 39 years. In 1802, the seigneury was sold twice, first to Henry Caldwell and then to Alexandre Fraser, two surnames that have remained in Témiscouata to this day.
