Abstract
Abraham Hyatt and his family were living in Schenectady, New York, when the American Revolution broke out. Hyatt supported the Loyalist side, and enlisted in the army with his two sons, Gilbert and Cornelius. Abraham Hyatt fought with General Burgoyne in the Saratoga campaign in 1777. Around 1778-1780, Abraham Hyatt, his wife and their ten children moved to Quebec. Gilbert Hyatt is recognized as the founder of the City of Sherbrooke.
