Représentations de la minorité juive dans la presse écrit francophone québécoise
|
Abstract |
An examination of four Quebec French language newspapers (La Presse, Le Soleil, Le Devoir and Le Journal de Montréal) between March 2006 and April 2007 to see how they portrayed Montreal's Jewish community within the context of the debate on "reasonable accommodation." The author also examines the debates over the construction of an eiruv (a ritual enclosure used to permit Hasidim Jewish residents or visitors to transfer objects from one domain type to another on Shabbat) in Outremont (2000-2001), and the construction of sukkot (temporary huts constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot) in the Sanctuaire Mont-Royal (1998-2004).
