Title
L’influence de l’aménagement linguistique sur l'orientation des travaux de terminologie à l’Office québécois de la langue française (1961-2004)
Abstract
The author points out that terminology, as practiced in Quebec since the 1960s, has been part of a language-planning project to make French the common language of communication throughout the province. The author examines how Quebec's language planning and policies have influenced the development of terminology by the Office québécois de la langue française from 1961 to 2004. The author outlines the history of language use in Quebec dating back to the Conquest, and the history of language legislations (Bills 63, 22, 101 etc.) and court challenges to them.
