Abstract |
On February 21, 1809, seven Quebec City businessmen (James Irvine, John Blackwood, John Painter, John Mure, John Jones, John Patterson and David Munro) met to induce leaders of the town's small business community to work together towards one ambitious goal, to make Quebec City the distribution centre of British and West Indian products to Upper and Lower Canada. This was the beginning of the Quebec Board of Trade, today known as la Chambre de Commerce de Québec.
