The Colonial Policy of the Whig Ministry, 1830-37
|
Abstract |
A two-part study of the colonial policy of the British Government towards the British North American colonies leading up to the Rebellions of 1837 in Lower and Upper Canada. The author contends that between 1835 and 1837, the Whig Ministry would have given the colonies self-government, as demanded by reformers in the colonies, had it been able to agree on its form.
