Abstract |
The author's purpose in crafting this 1966 study was to furnish social welfare agencies and all interested in the welfare of the Jewish population, sixty-five years of age and over, in Metropolitan Montreal with statistical information concerning their number, sex, age and geographical distribution and marital status, together with comparative statistics for the total population of all origins within the same age group in those areas. There were 8,209 Jews in Metropolitan Montreal in 1961 who were sixty-five years of age and over, of whom 3,862 were men and 4,347 were women, forming eight percent of the city's total Jewish population.
