Language Choice Among Immigrants in a Multi-Lingual Destination
|
Abstract |
Analyzes the choice of dominant language chosen by immigrants in a multi-lingual destination. Using empirical evidence from Quebec, the authors found that immigrants tend to gravitate to the official language that is closer to their mother tongue, that predominates in their new region of residence, and that has the broader labour market or economic appeal.
