Title
‘In the desert places of the wilderness’: The Frontier Thesis and the Anglican Church in the Eastern Townships, 1799-1831
Abstract
A case study of two neighbouring parishes in St. Armand, near the Bay of Missisquoi close to the Vermont border, and how the British-born Anglican missionaries of this area adapted to the challenges posed by an alien cultural environment. The area had been settled by American Loyalists, and American missionary societies and revivalist sects also took an interest in this region.
