Title
A Study of the Academic Achievement and Personal and Social Adjustment of Jewish Moroccan Immigrant Students in the English High Schools of Montreal
Abstract
The author set out to examine how Moroccan-born and non-Moroccan foreign-born Jewish high school students differ with regard to certain facets of their school life, particularly achievement, attitude and adjustment. He surveyed fifty Moroccan-born Jewish students and a representative number of non-Moroccan foreign-born Jewish students attending three different English Montreal high schools and concluded that Moroccan and non-Moroccan Jewish students do not differ significantly in their attitude toward school or in their personal and social adjustment. However, the Moroccan students achieved poorer grades, appeared to integrate more slowly, and experienced behaviour problems.
