Title
Years of Adjustment: British Policy and the Canadian Militia, 1760-1787
Abstract
The author examines the social and political dimensions of the Canadian militia during the post-Conquest era. Although he probes a number of themes such as the burdensome nature of militia service and class relations, his general purpose is to argue that the Canadian militia became an important medium through which British institutions were adapted to Canadian society.
