Abstract
An overview of the predominately Irish English-speaking Catholic population of Montreal and their religious/cultural institutions. As early as 1817, English language sermons were being preached in Montreal churches. The first mass in St. Patrick's church, the first church specifically built for the English-speaking Catholic population of the city, was celebrated on March 17, 1847.
