Title
History, Immigration and Cinema: The Case of Montreal’s Italians
Abstract
The author maintains that the 1980s constituted a crucial turning-point in the history of film production in Quebec. He argues that these years witnessed an unprecedented effort, on the part of the film industry and institutions, to acknowledge the evolving ethnocultural landscape; and, in this process, artists of Italian origin and themes associated with Italian immigration and ethnicity played a leading role.
