Abstract
The Montreal Junior Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1947 by Lewis V. Elvin for players 11 to 19 years. The British-born Elvin was the Music Specialist with the city's Protestant school board. The author offers a history of the Orchestra and Elvin's association with it to 1971. The orchestra toured in Great Britain in 1954, continental Europe in 1961, and Scandinavia in 1963.
