Title
La milice du district de Montréal, 1787-1829 : essai d'histoire socio-militaire
Abstract
The author argues that the militia in the district of Montreal between 1787 and 1829, with the exception of the period between 1812 and 1815 when Lower Canada was involved in the war against the United States, was an illusion of a military force. The militia in the district was divided into two groups: the francophone bourgeois “Canadien” militia and the anglophone merchant “British” militia.
