Title
Le village abandonné de Rivière-La Guerre : Étude comparative
Abstract
A history of the early nineteenth century Scottish community of Godmanchester, better known as Rivière-La Guerre, near the municipality of Saint-Anicet. The village was only inhabited for thirty years. Flooding, caused by the construction of the first Beauharnois Canal, led to the abandonment of the village in the late 1850s. The authors examine the few buildings in the village that still exist.
