The Inimitable Graham Townsend: A Canadian Fiddle Legend's Quebec Roots
|
Abstract |
A genealogical and musical biography of Graham Townsend (1942-1998), a renowned old-time fiddle musician, composer, and recording artist, who grew-up in Western Quebec, and went on to international fame. Legally blind, he nevertheless played concerts around the world with his fiddle, but inevitably returned to the Ottawa Valley for local performances. The article’s author, Gordon Rainey, was second cousin to Townsend.
