Title
Physical Expansion and Socio-Cultural Segregation in Quebec City, 1765-1840
Abstract
A study of the tacit understanding between English-speaking merchants and French-speaking professionals in the running of municipal affairs in Quebec City between 1790 and 1840. The authors argue that this understanding led to the division of the city into socio-cultural and economic enclaves, to the detriment of the working class.
