Abstract
The history of the quarantine station below Quebec City, first opened in 1832 to stem the outbreak of cholera in the city brought by Irish immigrants. Thousands of other Irish immigrants, who were fleeing the 1845 potato famine in Ireland only to die of typhus at the quarantine station, are buried on the island.
