Abstract
Little is known about George William Ellisson (c. 1818-c.1879), who arrived in Quebec City in 1848. He is nevertheless considered a pioneer of photography in Quebec and Canada. The author found information on Ellisson in the Dun and Bradstreet archives at the Baker Library at Harvard University.
