Includes information on Thomas Cary (1751-1823), a Quebec City businessman, office holder, poet, lawyer, and newspaper editor who, in March 1789, published "Abram’s Plains: a poem." This rhymed poem of 568 lines, written in the style of the poet James Thomson, describes the St Lawrence valley, the towns along its banks, and the people who lived there.
