The Years Unfold: The Story of the Lennoxville United Church, 1875-1975
Abstract
The history of an Eastern Townships Methodist Church, whose roots date back to the 1820s when several Methodist families came from Ireland to the Sherbrooke-Lennoxville area. From about 1847 until 1874, parishioners held services in a small wooden church, which they had built on Belvidere Street (now College Street). In 1874, a fire left half the town, including this church, in ruins, and a new church was constructed on Church Street. In 1925, the Methodist Church became part of the United Church of Canada.
