Abstract
A detailed biography and family history of Nicholas Austin (1736-1821) who settled in Bolton County in 1792. Nicholas married Phebe Chesley in 1768, and after several moves in New Hampshire, began petitioning in the 1790s for land in Quebec. Eventually he (and other Quakers) were granted land in Bolton Township. Also includes information on Quakers in Quebec at the turn of the nineteenth century.
