Title
Les débuts de la Maçonnerie au Québec
Abstract
The author provides an outline of the Masonic lodges in Quebec, both Francophone and Anglophone, from 1759 to the end of the eighteenth century. The author examines the memberships of these lodges to trace the social origins of the respective linguistic associations. He also examines the attitude of the Quebec Masons towards the War of Independence of the United States of America and towards the French Revolution, and the split between those who supported the revolutions ans those loyalists who opposed them.
