The Degeneration of the Language Issue: What's Next?
|
Abstract |
A copy of a brief presented by the South Asian Women's Community Centre at the public hearings held by the Montreal Catholic School Commission concerning proposed regulations on the use of non-French languages, between students, outside the classroom but within a school's parameter, such as hallways and schoolyards. The proposal met with strong public protest and was dropped. The South Asian Women's Community Centre opposed the proposal, suggesting that it pandered to xenophobia and racial discrimination.
