Title
'The Church Is Not a Vast Democracy' : le rôle des églises locales dans la formation de l'église unie du Canada (1902-1925) : le cas de Sherbrooke
Abstract
An examination of the inter-faith union of three Protestant congregations in Sherbrooke, Quebec, between 1902 and 1925 that decided to join the United Church of Canada. The three congregations were the Plymouth Congregational Church, the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and the Trinity Methodist Church. The author's emphasis is on the stages of the process rather than the causes or results of the union. She looks at how each of these congregations decided whether or not to join the union.
