Title
Les chemises bleues. Adrian Arcand, journaliste antisémite canadien-français
Abstract
Adrien Arcand (1899-1967), the self-proclaimed "Canadian Führer", established the anti-Semitic Parti National Social Chrétien (Christian National Social Party) in Quebec in 1934. Party members were known by their military-style uniforms, including swastika badges, as Les Chemises bleues (the Blue Shirts). The author explains that Arcand saw Jewish plots everywhere and his followers sought scapegoats for what they saw as the evils corroding society. Arcand advocated the deportation of Canadian Jews to Hudson Bay.
