Abstract |
Montreal-born Arthur James Marshall Smith (1902-1980), poet, critic and anthologist, is recognized as one of the most influential forces in Canadian literature. In 1925, while a graduate student, he co-founded and edited with F.R. Scott the McGill Fortnightly Review, the first journal to publish modernist poetry and critical opinion in Canada.
