Title
Yiddish in Canada: Picture and Prospects
Abstract
Yiddish, once the predominant daily language of Canadian Jewry, was in decline in the 1980s when this article was written. The author contends that the language is becoming a sort of "classic" language for Jewish scholars and will remain a living vernacular only among the Hasidic communities in Montreal and Toronto.
