Title
Les infirmières hygiénistes de la Ville de Montréal : du service privé au service civique
Abstract
A description and analysis of the role of the nursing profession in the development of public health care in Montreal. Using two groups as examples (the nurses of the Montreal Health Department and the Soeurs de l'Espérance), the authors examine one of the few models of a female-dominated profession which reverted to the lay sector very early in the twentieth century in Quebec.
