Abstract
The Quebec City-born Edmund Willoughby Sewell (1800-1890) was an Anglican Minister, artist and ship builder. The author tells the story about the construction of the Tea Taster, Sewell's three-masted 909 tons ship, designed for speed and to take part in the 1868 tea race. The tea race was the most prestigious ocean race of the time, leading competitors from China to London.
