Title
Composition et évolution ethnique des régions périphériques du Québec
Abstract
A description of the evolution of the ethnic structure of the population of five peripheral regions of Quebec over two sub-periods: 1871-1971 and 1971-1986. The regions studied are Gaspé, the Lower St. Lawrence, Saguenay-Lac St-Jean, Abitibi-Temiscaming and the North Shore. Emphasis is placed on the demographic decline of the "British" population in these regions, compared with the growth of the "French" population.
