Abstract
The Scottish-born artist and author George Heriot (1759-1839) came to Quebec in 1792 and remained until 1816. Heriot was also a bureaucrat in Quebec, appointed deputy postmaster general of British Noth America in 1799. He is the author of The History of Canada From its First Discovery (1804), and Travels Through the Canadas (1807).
