A reprint of an address by the John Richardson (c. 1754-1831), the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Montreal East, on April 12, 1808, outlining the general principles of banking and the issuing of notes. Richardson had tried to establish The Canada Banking Company in 1792, but failed.
