Abstract
James MacPherson LeMoine (1825-1912), of Scottish and French-Canadian ancestry, was a prominent member of Quebec City's turn-of-the-twentieth-century English-speaking community. The bilingual MacPherson LeMoine was author of such books as Quebec, Past and Present (1876), Chronicles of the St. Lawrence (1878), Picturesque Quebec (1882), and Monographie et esquisses (1885). He was also a president and honorary librarian of the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec. Spencer Grange was his 40-acre estate in Sillery.
