Abstract
The Redpath Museum is the oldest building in Canada built as a museum. Completed in 1882 through a donation from Montreal businessman Peter Redpath (1821-1894), the museum was originally built to house the geological collections of Sir William Dawson (1820-1899), then Principal of McGill. Today the museum houses collections of interest to ethnology, biology, paleontology, and mineralogy/geology. The Museum was designed by A.C. Hutchison and A. D. Steele.
