Abstract
A history of Kinnear's Mills, known as the "Village of Churches", in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec. The village was founded in the 1820s when the Scottish-born James Kinnear built his sawmill on the Osgood River. Soon more Scottish settlers joined Kinnear, followed later by Irish settlers and finally by French Canadians. The village has four churches (Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, and United), located close to each other in the village centre.
