Title
La démocratie québécoise par les textes
Abstract
The author points out that his selected documents are more an introduction than a conclusive synthesis of the birth and development of democracy in Quebec. The author brings together speeches, testimonies and documents, as well as legislative and political texts, on representative democracy in the province. The texts and documents are divided into three parts: the first, historical, covers the period extending from 1791 to 1960. The second, legislative, is a form of overview of Quebec legislation. It presents some of the provisions of Quebec laws that guarantee civil liberties as well as civil and social rights, and which organize the state and the Quebec electoral system. The third discusses the reforms and improvements that Quebec democracy has implemented in its contemporary history.
