Title
Le fleuve et la cité : représentations de l’immigration et esquisses d’une action de l’État québécois, 1956-1968
Abstract
The author examines the attributes sought by the Quebec government in immigrants seeking to settle in the province between the end of the Second World War and the creation of the Quebec Ministry of Immigration. Prior to the Quiet Revolution, the ideal immigrant was someone who possessed attributes that aided the (French) ethnicity and (Catholic) religion of the province. After 1960, the ideal immigrant was someone whose attributes contributed to the economic and national development of the province.
