Abstract
An examine of the cases brought before Montreal's municipal court in 1906. That year, 12,091 cases passed before the Recorder's Court, the majority of which resulted in summary convictions. The author divides his book into three parts. The first deals with what was happening in Montreal in 1906, the origins of the Recorder's Court, and the old city jail at St. Mary's Current. The second part concentrates on the children, some as young as eight years old, who were brought before the Recorder for prosecution. The final section deals with the adult's who were brought before the municipal court.
