Abstract
William Lochhead (1864-1927) founded the Quebec Society for the Protection of Plants in 1908. While a biology professor at McGill University's MacDonald College, Lochhead urged the creation of an organization that would address the practical needs of both biologists and agriculturalists in dealing with plant diseases.
