Title
Aesthetics of Influence: A Study of the Modernist Poetics of T.S. Eliot and A.J.M. Smith
Abstract
The author points out that Canadian poetic Modernism was initiated in 1920s and 1930s by the "Montreal Group" of poets, consisting principally of A.J.M. Smith, F.R. Scott, Leo Kennedy and A.M. Klein. The author maintains that A.J.M. Smith and F.R. Scott led this Modernism movement, and that Smith was influenced by the British Modernism movement led by Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot and W.B. Yeats.
