Title
Les débuts du hockey organisé
Abstract
The first organized indoor hockey game in Canada was played on Montreal's Victoria Skating Rink on March 3, 1875. The two nine-person teams were composed of members of the Victoria Skating Club, many of whom were McGill University students. Organized hockey in Canada was born within Montreal's English-speaking community (British and Irish), and was later taught to French Quebecers who took an interest in the sport after the mid-1890s.
